The tipycal dishes of Cotacahi are the red meats, this meat takes its color of the achiote, to preparate this dish you take the meat and put in lemon juice with onions and garlic cut in slices, after that you take the meat and cook. You can serve this with potatoes and juice.

Cotacachi got a lot of places to visit like swimming pools, or parks, the water of the swimming pools are thermal waters, around this place you can see forests a beatiful place to visit.

ZULETA

ZULETA
It is located in the northern Andes of Ecuador Angochagua region, an hour from ibarra, while you traveling can find areas of crops, livestock pastures and natural forests.
Zuleta experiences a temperate climate all year round. 
Temperatures range between 16 and 20 degrees during the day with low humidity. The nights can be very cold.



ZULETA EMBROIDERY



The history of Zuleta embroidery dates back to 1940, when three young women of the community were taken to the Hacienda Zuleta working with Doña Avelina, wife of former President Galo Plaza Lasso. The lady, instructed them in the embroidery tablecloths, during the free time. Later school teacher Doña Adela introduced embroidery as art.

Zuleta Ranch is a tourist place that has many green spaces, a beautiful forests, This ranch was from president Galo Plaza.
Now in charge of the family it´s one of the best hostry en latin america.

OTAVALO

San Luis de Otavalo is a beautiful city located in the north Sierra from the Ecuador, a 30 minute from ibarra and cold temperate climate. This place is surrounded by Andean landscapes, Otavalo is one of the most tourist  places of the Ecuador.
The visitors can enjoy different cultural landscapes, go to shopping and experiment the otavalo´s culture




THE ARTISAN FAIR
Otavalo is worldwide famous for its handmade fair that offers him an infinity of products, created with the hands of skilled and experienced artisans.  
Otavalo is known for its variety of flavors, traditional preparations are: 
In this market it can be a great variety of textile products, crafts in wood, raft, carved, key rings, imitation jewelry, jeweler's, paintings, antiques and more.





SAN PABLO´S LAKE
San Pablo's beautiful lake is located to 3 Km. of Otavalo, to the feet of the Volcano Imbabura. 
Around the lake there is totora, vegetable fiber with the one grows which the native ones manufacture the merry-go-rounds of totora like half of transport for the lake and different types of crafts.   
Several activities like practice of aquatic sports can be developed as swimming, sky, oar and sport fishing.

PEGUCHE WATERFALL























A wonderful trail through the eucalyptus forest near the community allows visitors arrive Peguche Waterfall. 
The community has worked really hard  to create an attractive and informative way reaching the sacred waterfall.



This site is considered as an indigenous ceremonial center, because here is perform purification baths to start the Inti Raymi holydays or Festival of the Sun and Crops.

LOCATION
It is 23 kilometers from Ibarra, 10 minutes off of the Panamerican Highway and 2 km from Otavalo . Peguche Parish.

CLIMATE
It has a pleasant climate with an average temperature of 18ºC.

Ritual
During the summer solstice ( December 22 ) the inhabitants of nearby communities come at night to take a ritual bath in the waters of the waterfall, this ceremony will prepare spiritually for the new year begins , both their fields and in their own lives.








FOOD

Pachamanca 
from Quechua pacha "earth", manka "pot" is a traditional Andean dish based on the baking, with hot stones in a earthen oven, add some lamb, pork, chicken or guinea pig, marinated in spices with others andean products, such as potato, green beans or "habas", sweet potato, cassava or "yuca", humitas, some corn and tamale is included in the baking, cover everything with achira leaf, some earth, more hot stones and make a campfire on top the preparation for 4 and a half hours.

IBARRA

SAN MIGUEL DE IBARRA. 

It is the capital of the province, where is all our cultures together, is like the heart of Imbabura.
Ibarra also known as the "White City" because it is a tradition that the houses are painted white.



Ibarra is a small town located north of Ecuador, the weather is around 18 degrees c, but can change quickly. 
This shining city was founded by the Spanish on September 28, 1606 because they needed a city between Colombia and Quito as square trade. That's one of the reasons why ibarra has a Spanish architecture village.

In ibarra can visit the churches which are famous for its baroque and renaissance style, the most traditional and worth visiting are:
